In 1st grade, we celebrate many milestones throughout the school year. If and when we get the chance to dress up and celebrate, WE DO! Character Day, Christmas, Math/Science Night, Reading Night, 100th Day of School and Dr. Seuss Day are just a few of our events. Teachers can have fun too...

Thanks a Million!!!
As a second year teacher, I wanted to provide a classroom library for my students so they could love reading as much as I do. Unfortunately, I do not have unlimited funds to make a classroom library appear. I had heard so much about Donors Choose and how they give to teachers and classrooms. I thought it was worth a shot. In September I received my first funded project. I was over the moon with excitement. I let my students help me unpack the boxes and set up the library that day. Then, our feeder pattern was encouraging all K-2 classrooms to submit a project. I decided it was worth another shot because we can NEVER have too many books. During winter break, I received an email saying my second project was also funded. My students were so excited when they returned and I told them we were receiving even MORE books. Here are a few pictures of them enjoying our wonderful classroom library. Thank you Donors Choose & all the wonderful Donors for investing in my students' future.
Cookie Time...
We had two special events where we were able to spotlight a fabulous book. The picture book we chose was "If you give a mouse a cookie." In November, we celebrated character day by dressing up each 1st grade student as a giant cookie and each classroom teacher dressed as the mouse.
Later in the year, we celebrated by hosting a reading night at our school and showcased our book selection on a story board.
